music between the front porch and the laptop

Spleen Cringe Whilst I don’t think I’ve heard an album I don’t like from Aaron Martin, this one of his best yet. He is carving out a niche somewhere between modern classical and old, weird Americana, somewhere between the front porch and the laptop. Every track has a lovely, lustrous patina of carefully polished timelessness. A true American Primitive.
That's a review I like, of an album I really like

A celebration of life for my brother, Doug Anderson

When plans are finalized, I will post the details here.  The most likely location is the cemetary near his home and the old Pine Street school and the general time frame is Spring.

Update: Friday, April 20th 1PM at the Redding Cemetery.

Trump's explicitly racist comments are not dementia

Some pundits are saying Trump's latest outrageous statements demonstrate early signs of dementia. I beg to differ. This is not Tourettes, this is his core racism on display. He does not represent my values nor the core values of this country - he is a wannabe authoritarian enmeshed with the Reeps' Confederate philosophy. Vote them all out!

my brother, Doug, died unnecessarily on January 2

Thanks to all of you offering support following the death of my brother - it matters to me. Here is what I found in the last three days:
Doug went to the hospital to get treatment for an infected hand (cellulitis), a very common issue. While receiving IV antibiotics he ate a large piece of chicken unsupervised, which was not good practice, as he has no teeth. He choked to death and was revived with difficulty (30 minutes of CPR, failed attempts to intubate due to not knowing the chicken was lodged in him, etc) and consequently his brain was without oxygen for 6-8 minutes. Over the course of the following week he declined until he died. I am now talking to the coroner. The hospital did not know he had relatives and his home care provider did not notify us until the day before he died. What a tragedy...

Greg Dunn art works

Articulate is a great half-hour weekly show on PBS.  It introduced me to the extraordinarily beautiful art of Greg Dunn, which is based on neuroscience.  Highly recommended, especially to Kevin and Marc!
